Just found the site, love the concept and thought I’d pass something along.
I know that Upstate New York calls them Philly Steak and Cheese Subs, but when you get into Canada, apparently they’ve been bastardized into Philly Beef Melts. This is a picture from a Fox and the Fiddle’s menu in Toronto. What a disgrace.
That doesn’t even sound good, and marble cheese? Really!? It’s not John Kerry bad, but its not far off.

Just for the record, Aaron. The word “sub” does not belong in Philly vocabulary for anything synonymous with a sandwich. It simply doesn’t. Another pet peeve: they’re cheesesteaks. A hamburger with cheese is a cheeseburger right? Same rules apply. Those are cheeseburgers, these are cheesesteaks.
Beef melts though? Holy cow. Maybe they’re not calling it a cheesesteak to diassociate themselves since they know they can’t do it right. Though, they’re still dragging my hometown’s name through the mud.
Oh Canada, they’re so silly. PS. Marble cheese?! WHY!! I’ll keep my $8.99CAD
