In defense of the cheesesteak shop in Berkeley, CA

Reader James writes to me in defense of the cheesesteak shop found in this post.

Now while I did spend 4-5 years of my life in Allentown, I sadly have never had a cheesesteak in Philly…which may make me not very “Philly”, but I spent about 18 minutes yesterday cursing about Scott Hartnell’s terrible turnover yesterday to give the Caps their first goal.

That picture is not indicative of a cheesesteak from that place, and I’ve been there quite a few times as I live in Berkeley now.

When ordering a cheesesteak from this establishment, the standard is an Amoroso roll, steak, and provolone.  You can argue whether or not provolone or whiz is the right cheese or not, and I’m not going to get into that one for sure.

Your options are onions, sweet peppers, and hot peppers.  Ultimately it is up to the consumer to get all this correct.  I have no idea what the fuck that person was doing with lettuce.

Yes this restaurant serves curly fries, along with onion rings and french fries.  I’ll give you that criticism.
