Found at SONIC
Great burgers at Sonic. But this is…well you know.
— Don
This is well, yeah…
I remember the days where I’d take 45min drives out to Morgantown, PA just to feast upon far too many burgers and tots from SONIC. Those days are gone. They opened one of their drive-in franchises here in Philly a while back and it was absolutely awful. The excitement had been taken away by their lousy service and uber-ghettoness.
Terrible to see that now they’re insulting our beloved sandwich. Cheesesteak is one word to them, that’s nice. Though that picture quality is low, this just doesn’t look right.

Found at EAT ‘N PARK in Pittsburgh, PA
This is from a chain of regional restaurants in the Pittsburgh area called EAT N’ PARK. Never mind that it should be park and THEN eat, but the place is basically a Friendly’s style family restaurant where everything has a smiley face on it. This was on their menu. It looked pretty gross. The bread looks like cardboard.

I enjoy your statement about the logistics of eating then parking, haha. Yep, that looks pretty awful. That looks like some rare roast beef that isn’t grilled and chopped properly. Also, I’m beginning to wonder, is it so hard for people to just chop onions? C’mon, now. And finally, that cheese should be white American, Provolone or Whiz, not Kraft singles.
Granted Pittsburgh is in the same state, but they’re worlds away.
PS. Can anyone tell me why it must be SO HARD to just call it a cheesesteak? It’s not a “steak and cheese” dammit. You call hamburgers with cheese, cheeseburgers; why must this be any different?

I had no idea “Jersey Mike’s” was such a large franchise. Of course there isn’t a single one of these in Philadelphia. We typically don’t have any restaurants that serve subs within our city limits (aside from damned Subway, who is an unstoppable force).
For the record, most of what Jersey Mike’s offers we’d call hoagies and their “hot subs” we have no name for. Though, I can tell you one thing, that “Famous Philly” (above) is by no means a cheesesteak. Just look at it, wrong peppers, meat and veggies don’t look chopped up enough and if the cheese is unmelted enough to even look like delicate little dairy curtains, then it’s completely wrong.

This is “Domino’s Philly Cheese Steak Oven Baked Sandwich”
Sins: Not enough meat, default cheese is a mix of prov and american, and it’s on…pizza dough bread? This is my vote for worst fast food rendition.
— Allie
Like many fast food renditions, this one clearly misses the mark… by a lot. That “artisan bread” isn’t right, what’s with the lettuce, the steak is wrong/doesn’t look right, etc. etc. This might make for a decent steak sandwich but anything remotely resembling and containing the words “Philly” or “cheesesteak” should be banned from products like these. At least their marketing campaign didn’t anger an entire city, like Arby’s did. (In fact, I never heard of this sandwich until just now.)
There’s write-ups on The Impulsive Buy and Serious Eats, in case you’re interested in learning more about this monster.
Both of these photos look like shit, sorry. I hope when Subway advertises these things they aren’t making any references to Philadelphia or actual cheesesteaks at all.
Come to Philly for the real thing. Can’t guarantee it’ll be less messy, but it’ll surely taste better.
but obviously it never look that good in real life…whyyyy!!! -___-“
I think mine probably look more like this
or uglier than that with less steak tiskk
but oh well atleast it still taste good hahaha

Great Steak? America’s Premier Cheesesteak, really? I’d LOVE it if this fast food franchise were not legally allowed to use the words “Philly” or “Steak” in the same sentence. Seriously. What. the. hell.
Look at those sliders too, don’t even get me started on how those aren’t sliders. I don’t need to start another blog.
