This is Not a Cheesesteak

I really didn’t want to find a live example of something from Great Steak and Potato. This is even worse than I could’ve imagined. Why does that look like it’s in a hot dog roll? What’s with the tomato and lettuce and large strips of steak? UGH. I’m sorry you had to eat that.

While living in London (England), a Brazilian friend informed me that she had a “Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich”. I told her no, she didn’t and the result was me going with her the next time to investigate and prove my point. The sandwich in question was found at The Diner in the Camdentown section of London.  The entire sandwich is about 6 inches long. And it is on a baguette. A toasted baguette. With cubed steak and cheddar cheese on one half. The other half of the baguette has- get this- mayonnaise. It also had lettuce, tomato, a pickle, and some mystery sauce. It was a tasty sandwich, but nothing like a cheesesteak as we know it.— Carol

You pretty much covered it 100%, I’ve got nothing to add to that. Thanks for the submission!

Ditch the lettuce. No one from Philly calls it a sub, a cheesesteak is a cheesesteak.

I don’t even want to go into how Charley’s is the worst thing to happen to cheesesteaks since cheesesteaks were the best thing to happen to steak and cheese.

I will save my hatred for Charley’s another time and simply close this post by saying that this is UNIMAGINABLY WRONG. There are much better ways to do a chicken cheesesteak.
